The Outpost.
This is one of those images I’ve had in my head for many years. I wanted to create something that would look good on a book cover.This was the result.
Created in Vue 5. It was pretty straight foreword. Toss in a few plants, some background trees and its basically done. However, the renderer in Vue, at this time, just fell short. That’s where I relied on Photoshop heavily for the final image. Below is a comparison of the before / after do give you an idea of what was done using Photoshop. The image on the left is straight out of Vue 5 – the image on the right is after I attacked it with Photoshop.
The final result on this particular image came out great. I was going for a warm, summer morning, after a night of cool rain with a touch of fog. The technique is pretty easy to achieve in Photoshop, and only takes a few minutes.
